Jo is a Brisbane-based artist of twenty years who works predominantlyin oils although she has a wide experience in many media. Over her career she has developed a unique insight into capturing objects and activities that she observes throughout her everyday environment.

A prolific and eclectic painter, Jo enjoys exploring the richness of colours that can be found in commonplace things and in whatever subject genre takes her fancy. She incorporates bold brushstrokes with a vigorous application of pigment, resulting in an innovative and impressionistic style. Her strong and vibrant palette ensures that the subject evokes drama, especially when seen, painted and lit from out-of-the-ordinary viewpoints and, more often than not, up close and personal.

Ensuring that the quality of freshness and vitality is kept with her uncluttered and modern set-ups, Jo strives to incorporate a mood or accentuate a feeling in her paintings, aiming for a strong sense of immediacy and spontaneity, dramatizing the intenseness and impact of the finished piece.
